AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. Apple says it helps prevent eye fatigue and reduces the chance of being short-sighted from too much screen time.

The feature is powered by the TrueDepth camera on iPhone and iPad and measures the distance between the user’s face and the device. If the distance is less than 12 inches for an extended period of time, it alerts users that they are holding the device too close. 

The warning pops up with a message that says, “iPhone is Too Close.” After the warning, when users move their device from their face to a safe distance, they will see a checkmark confirming the distance as safe.

Step 3: Tap on Screen Distance under “Limit Usage”.

Step 4: Tap on Continue on the next two screens that explain what Screen Distance is and how it works.

Step 5: Tap on Screen Distance and enter your Screen Time passcode if prompted.

Meanwhile, iOS 17 also lets users send passwords and passkeys to their relatives via Family Sharing. This feature helps them access various accounts for streaming, online payments, subscriptions and more that they and their family use.

Users can use the new feature by making a Family Passwords Group on their iPhones. They can choose the credentials they want to share with their family members. This will also allow group members to view and change shared passwords.
