AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. AMD said it will open its new design centre campus in Bengaluru by end of this year and create 3,000 new engineering roles within five years. “Our India teams will continue to play a pivotal role in delivering the high-performance and adaptive solutions that support AMD customers worldwide,” Papermaster said. WhatsApp to soon let users share up to 100 media on Android beta

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly rolling out a new feature that will allow users to share up to 100 media within the chats, on Android beta.

With the new feature, beta users can now select up to 100 media in the media picker within the application, which was earlier limited to only 30, reports WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp users could soon share up to 100 media files

This feature is useful as users will finally be able to share entire albums, making it easier to share memories and moments.

Moreover, it will help users to avoid selecting the same photo or video more than once when they have to send a lot of media files.

The ability to share up to 100 media within the chats is available for some beta testers and is expected to roll out to more people over the coming days, the report said.

Last week, it was reported that the messaging platform was rolling out longer group subjects and descriptions on Android beta.

iOS beta users can now choose a longer group description, up to 2048 characters, as the previous limit was 512 characters. Longer group descriptions will help group admins to save additional information for describing their groups.

Moreover, the characters of the group subject have been increased to 100 to provide admins more freedom when naming their groups. The ability to choose a longer group subject and description is available for all users after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS update from the TestFlight app.

In other news, WhatsApp is working on a couple of more features for its iOS and Android users. Soon, users might be able to pin messages in individual chats and group chats. Additionally, users might soon be able to create their own WhatsApp calling shortcuts that they can place on the homescreen to save up time while placing calls.
