AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. Vivo V27 series India price, launch timeline, and specifications leaked online

Last year, it was reported that Vivo V27 and Vivo V27 Pro might launch in India some time in early 2023. Recently, the vanilla model has made an appearance on Geekbench, hinting that the smartphone might debut in India soon. In addition to this, a report by 91Mobiles also revealed the chipset and more etails about Vivo V27 smartphone.

The report further reveals that the Vivo V27 series will come with MediaTek chipset, flagship Sony IMX camera sensors and curved display.

Vivo V27 expected specifications

As per the Geekbench listing, the smartphone appeared with model number V2246. The listing hinted that the smartphone is expected to run on Android 13 and offer up to 12GB RAM. It managed to get an 845 single-core score and a 2,217 multicore score.

A report by 91Mobiles reveals that the smartphone is expected to be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. It is likely to be the first smartphone to be powered by Dimensity 7200 chipset.

The V27 5G is likely to feature a curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a triple-camera setup.

Vivo V27 Pro on the other hand is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. Both models will be available in two storage variants: 8GB RAM + 128GB of internal storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB of internal storage.

As for the colours, both the handsets might come in Black and a colour-changing blue colour variant.

It is expected that both Vivo V27 and Vivo V27 Pro will be available for purchase on Flipkart, Vivo’s e-store and offline stores in March itself.

Vivo V27 series expected pricing, launch timeline

Going by the report, Vivo’s upcoming series will debut in March in India. In terms of pricing, the report hints that the base variant of Vivo V27 is likely to be priced at around Rs 35,000, while the pricing of the Pro model might begin at 40,000.
