AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. AMD said it will open its new design centre campus in Bengaluru by end of this year and create 3,000 new engineering roles within five years. “Our India teams will continue to play a pivotal role in delivering the high-performance and adaptive solutions that support AMD customers worldwide,” Papermaster said. Samsung Galaxy A54 5G gets listed on Samsung’s official website, has repairability score higher than Galaxy S23

After launching the flagship Galaxy S series in the country, Samsung seems to have shifted its focus to the mid-range segment. Ahead of any announcements, the yet-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy A54 5G has been listed on the company’s official website.

The listing also confirms the repairability score of the Galaxy A54 5G. Interestingly, the phone has a higher repairability score than the Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung Galaxy A54 5G support page goes official

Samsung has created a support page for the Galaxy A54 5G ahead of its launch. The support page confirms the model number SM-A546B/DS and reveals a repairability score of 8.4 out of 10.

This is a great score for a mid-range phone. This score is higher than the Galaxy S23 series phones, which have a repairability score of 8.2.

While the listing doesn’t reveal any other details, we now know that the phone will launch soon in different European markets.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G will be a mid-range smartphone that will succeed the Galaxy A53 5G. The device is expected to come with an improved specs sheet while featuring a clean design.

If rumors and certifications are to be believed, the Galaxy A54 5G will come with a 6.4-inch punch-hole AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen will have a 120Hz refresh rate and slim bezels.

As for performance, the smartphone is expected to come powered by a new Exynos chipset. The Exynos 1380 chipset is the new mid-range SoC for Samsung phones and the one that we will most likely see in the Galaxy A54 5G.

The device will have a triple camera system on the back with a cleaner design as opposed to its predecessor. It may come with improved sensors, but unfortunately, there’s no information on the same.

As for the battery, the phone may pack a slightly bigger 5,100mAh battery with 25W wired fast charging support. There won’t be wireless charging support since it will be a mid-range phone. The device will boot on Android 13 OS out of the box with OneUI on top.
