AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. Reliance Jio has announced new offers for users on the occasion of its sixth anniversary. These benefits include additional high-speed data, discounts and coupons on Ajio, Netmeds, JioSavn and more. Jio has made the announcement on Twitter, revealing that these benefits will only be available for users who subscribe to the Rs 2,999 plan.

With the Jio 2,999 6th Anniversary offer, buyers will get six additional benefits on recharging their Jio number with Rs 2,999 annual plan (starting September 3). Do note that it is a limited-time offer only.

These benefits include 75GB of additional high-speed data. Buyers will also get Ixigo, (a travel portal) coupons worth Rs 750 off on Rs 4500 & above. On Netmeds, they will get three discount coupons of Rs 25 percent off on orders worth Rs 1,000 and above.

For shopping, buyers will get coupons that offer Rs 750 off on the purchase of Rs 2,990 and above on Ajio. On Jio Saavn Pro, buyers will get a flat 50 percent off on the 6 months Pro plan. Lastly, customers will get a discount worth Rs 500 on the purchase of Rs 5,000 on the purchase of electronics from Reliance digital.

At Reliance Jio AGM 2022 this year, Reliance made a bunch of important announcements. The telecom introduced a wireless single-device solution called Air Fiber to get broadband speeds at home without the hassle of installing wires.

The newly announced Jio Cloud PCs are just like PCs without any major hardware requirements. It is essentially a virtual PC. The much faster 5G network speed will enable users to stream all computations from a remote server location.

In simple words, Jio AirFiber is more like JioFi but with better internet speeds and Cloud PC aims to replace your laptop and desktops without the need to make expensive hardware purchases.
