AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. The newly launched Poco M4 Pro is up for sale for the first time in India. The sale will start today, i.e., March 7. The smartphone was unveiled at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. Poco M4 Pro features a 6.43-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits of peak brightness. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM. It runs on Android 11 with MIUI 13 on top.

As far as camera features are concerned, the Poco M4 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup including a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 118-degree field of view (FoV), and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
