AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. Oppo K10 with a MediaTek Dimensity 8000-Series chipset might debut in India soon

Oppo is expected to launch its Oppo K10 smartphone in India soon. The smartphone teaser has surfaced on Flipkart, confirming that the phone will be available for purchase on the e-commerce platform in India. The upcoming smartphone will join the company’s K-series that already include Oppo K9 5G and Oppo K9 Pro 5G. The company has tweeted about the smartphone, hinting at its imminent launch.

Oppo K10 is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8000-series chipset and might support 5G connectivity. The company will reveal more details about the smartphone tomorrow i.e. March 16. The smartphone will be the successor of Oppo K9 5G which debuted in China last year in May.

According to the tipster Yogesh Brar, Oppo K10 is likely to be priced under Rs 20,000 in India, reported 91Mobiles.

Oppo K9 5G specifications, features

Oppo K9 5G features a 6.43-inch full-HD+ display with 1,080×2,400 pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display has a touch sampling rate of 180Hz and an aspect ratio of 20:9. It comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor as well for biometric authentication. Under the hood sits a Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G mobile platform which is paired with Adreno 620 GPU for graphics rendition. In terms of memory configuration, the phone offers two options- 8GB RAM/128GB, 8GB RAM/256GB storage. It runs on ColorOS 11.1 based Android 11.

As for photography, Oppo K9 5G gets a triple rear camera setup comprising of a 64-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, the phone offers a 32-megapixel shooter.

The device is backed by a 4,300mAh battery and it supports 65W fast charge technology. Connectivity options on the phone include- Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 5G, USB-C port for charging, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
