AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Windows 11 releasing tomorrow: How to upgrade, compatible devices, top features, more

Microsoft announced on Tuesday to roll out Windows 11 from October 5. The announcement comes a few months after the new operating system was unveiled at the end of June this year. The free upgrade to Windows 11 would begin rolling out to all eligible Windows 10 PCs. Additionally, PCs that come with the next-generation Windows operating system will become available for sale.

Microsoft has made significant changes to the interface, although it won’t be released for Android during October’s availability. “We expect all eligible devices to receive the Windows 11 update by mid-2022,” Aaron Woodman, general manager of Microsoft Windows Marketing, said in a statement.

Windows 11: How to update

These devices will receive updates based on an “intelligence model that considers hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, how old the device is, and other factors that affect the upgrade experience.”

For new updates, go to Windows Update in Settings. Users can know about updates by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Eligibility

Microsoft has promised to relaunch the PC Health Check app soon to check the eligibility status of their Windows 10 PCs. In the meantime, if you’re a member of the Windows Insider program, you can get the PC Health Check app in preview. You can also check the minimum system requirements to determine whether your PC is eligible to receive the new operating system update.

Windows 11 was initially announced as an update on PCs with the latest CPUs, although Microsoft last week updated its minimum system requirements to include older Intel CPU support. If you have a PC that is not eligible for the update, Microsoft has assured you to continue supporting Windows 10 until October 14, 2025. It also recently announced new features, including Windows Hello improvements and WPA3 H2E Wi-Fi support that will be part of Windows later in the year.

Features

The tech giant made significant changes in design, interface, and Start Menu. Hi Cortana, the welcome screen has been removed, and you won’t get to see live titles in the new Windows. Microsoft plans to compete with macOS and Chrome OS with the design of Windows 11.

According to Microsoft, Windows 11 is the most awesome design of Windows so far. It provides new accessibility improvements that were made for and by people with disabilities.
