AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. As per the popular microblogging site Twitter, πŸ˜‚ (Tears of joy emoji) is the most used emoji in the year 2021 in India. Following this are πŸ™ (Praying emoji), 😭 (Crying emoji), πŸ‘ (Thumbs up emoji), 🀣 (ROFL emoji), 😍 (Heart eyes emoji), πŸ₯Ί (Pleading face emoji), 😊 (Smile emoji), πŸ”₯ (Fire emoji), and 😁 (Grinning face with smiling eyes emoji). These are the most used emojis on Twitter in India between January 01 – June 30, 2021.

Sharing more states, Twitter stated that on World Emoji Day 2020, 695K conversations were recorded from 146K unique authors in India alone with a 93 percent positive/neutral sentiment. “In 2021, the most-used emojis were reflective of everything the nation has been through,” the microblogging site highlighted.

Twitter also listed out the most popular emojis across the following six categories including Sports and Fitness, Hobbies and activities, Food and Drinks, Appreciation, Nature, COVID-19 pandemic. Check the list of emojis under each category here:
