AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. AMD said it will open its new design centre campus in Bengaluru by end of this year and create 3,000 new engineering roles within five years. “Our India teams will continue to play a pivotal role in delivering the high-performance and adaptive solutions that support AMD customers worldwide,” Papermaster said. AirPods 3 launch: Apple could silently announce third-generation AirPods on May 18

A new report suggests that Apple is gearing up to launch the third generation of AirPods aka AirPods 3 on May 18. In fact, the report goes on to state that on the same day, the tech giant will also announce its high fidelity tier of Apple Music.

The Cupertino based tech giant is yet to reveal details related to the products in question, so take the information with a pinch of salt.

3rd gen AirPods coming next week?

As per a report by MacRumors, credit goes to YouTuber Luke Miani, Apple plans to release the next generation AirPods via an official press release on the slated date, May 18. The report suggests that the new AirPods could feature an updated design, similar to the high end AirPods Pro but minus the active noise cancellation support.

In addition to Apple’s next generation AirPods, the tech is reportedly looking to also announce a brand new tier to its music streaming service, dubbed the Apple Music HiFi. This offers users high fidelity music.

The report further suggests that the Apple Music HiFi will cost 9.99 US Dollars, which is just as the same as the individual package offered by the company.

Previously revealed codes within the first beta of the upcoming iOS 14.6 update suggested that Apple Music HiFi streaming service will be limited to only compatible hardware. Apple is yet to reveal any information to the upcoming AirPods as well as Music HiFi.

AirPods 3: What we know so far

-Rumours suggests the AirPods 3 will feature a different design when compared to the existing iteration of AirPods. It will likely take cues from the Pro variant and feature a smaller stem.

-It is likely that the wireless charging case of the AirPods will also have a change in design. This time Apple could opt for a rectangular case design.

-AirPods 3 is also expected to offer an improved performance and features to make the audio experience better than ever before.

-The earbuds are expected to come with a new wireless chip, which apart from improving the audio output will improve the battery life significantly.

-The upcoming AirPods will have the ability to pair Apple devices much faster.
