AMD to invest $400 million in India by 2028: Here’s what we know

US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. Apple Fall Keynote 2020: iPad Air, Watch SE, Apple One, Fitness+ and more

Apple hosted its Fall Keynote 2020 on September 15, announcing a couple of new products. The biggest announcements at the event were the Apple Watch SE and Watch Series 6. The Watch SE is a new affordable variant of the Series 6 that sist above the entry-level Series 3. Additionally, Apple also announced an updated base-level iPad and a new iPad Air. The Air gets the new A14 Bionic chipset and a fullscreen design for the front. Two new services were also revealed at the event. The Fitness+ service is meant to offer a new fitness training experience with a subscription charge. Apple One is an all-in-one subscription service including all of Apple’s existing services.
