US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices said on Friday it will invest around $400 million in India over the next five years and will build its largest design center in the tech hub of Bengaluru. AMD’s announcement was made by its Chief Technology Officer Mark Papermaster at an annual semiconductor conference that started Friday in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state of Gujarat. Other speakers at the flagship event include Foxconn Chairman Young Liu and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra. Despite being a late entrant, the Modi government has been courting investments into India’s nascent chip sector to establish its credentials as a chipmaking hub. Byond Tech, popular for the Mi-Book series of tablets has launched
Phablet III, an Android smartphone with a 6-inch FWVGA (854 x 480
pixels) capacitive touch screen display and 1GHz dual-core processor. It
comes with dual SIM (GSM + GSM) support with dual Standby and runs on
Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It comes with a 8MP rear camera wih
LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. Even though it has a large
screen like a table, it has functions of a smartphone, but there are no
details about the RAM and internal memory yet. Karbonn launched the A30, an Android

The much awaited 7-inch Android 4.0 tablet from the Micromax stable has finally arrived for Rs 6,499.

The tablet is priced at Rs 10,999 and operates on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream
Sandwich) and also has Cortex A9 1GHz processor. It also has a built-in
FM transmitter.
